Get creative with stitches and style in this fun and beginner-friendly sewing class just for kids! Perfect for ages 6 and up.

Mommy & Me Class: Shrinky Dink Jewelry
Spend creative quality time together at PAAL! In this fun Mommy & Me class, kids and their grown-ups will design and make their own colorful Shrinky Dink jewelry. From necklaces to keychains, each pair will leave with unique, wearable art—and special memories, too! All materials are provided. Perfect for ages 4 and up with an adult.

Live Drawing Class II
Join us for the second installment of our Live Drawing series at PAAL! In this session, we’ll focus on drawing from a carefully arranged still life setup—perfect for building observation skills, exploring composition, and practicing technique. All experience levels are welcome. Bring your favorite drawing materials; easels are provided. Ages 16+ recommended.

Learn to Tie Dye
Get ready to twist, tie, and dye! Join us at PAAL for a colorful, hands-on class where you'll learn classic tie-dye techniques to create your own bold and unique designs. Perfect for all ages and experience levels—just bring a white cotton item (like a t-shirt or tote bag), and we’ll supply the rest. Come get creative and leave with wearable art!

Art Beyond Limits
Art Beyond Limits is a groundbreaking exhibition celebrating the work of artists living with low vision. In partnership with MedRVA Low Vision Center, PAAL proudly presents pieces ranging from paintings and fiber art to poetry and digital creations—each one a testament to resilience, adaptability, and the unstoppable urge to create. This powerful show opens July 11 during Friday for the Arts, alongside an opening reception from 5–8PM which will feature John Bramblitt alongside the MedRVA Low Vision Center artists.

Artist Workshop with John Bramblitt
Join John Bramblitt for a hands-on workshop designed for both sighted and visually impaired participants. Sighted guests will be blindfolded to experience painting through touch and imagination. Learn how to create without sight—and how to see in a new way.

Artist Talk with John Bramblitt
Experience the incredible journey of John Bramblitt, who lost his vision and discovered a deeper creative path through art. In this powerful talk, Bramblitt shares his story of transformation, the development of his tactile painting techniques, and how art can connect and heal across all boundaries.

Facade Opening Reception
Facade: A Juried Exhibition of Art Quilts
Explore the layers of meaning behind the word facade in this powerful exhibition by artist members of SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates). Featuring bold statements and intricate designs, these art quilts challenge perception and invite viewers to consider the emotional, architectural, and societal fronts we present. On view June 13 – July 6, with an Opening Reception on June 13 from 5:30–8:00pm. Don’t miss this visually stunning and thought-provoking collection.

Paper Flower Sculpting Class
Back by popular demand! Our last class sold out, and space is limited—don’t miss your chance to join us for this vibrant and hands-on workshop. In this session, you’ll learn how to design and construct stunning paper flower sculptures using simple techniques and professional tips.
All materials are provided, so just bring your creativity! This class is perfect for beginners and experienced crafters alike. You’ll leave with your own handmade floral creations and the skills to keep crafting at home.

2025 Member's Exhibition
Artists that are currently members of the Petersburg Area Art League are invited to submit artworks for consideration by the Inaugural PAAL Members Art Exhibition. This exhibition is the premier showcase for artists currently living in the Tri-cities region and is a celebration of the tremendous quality and unique diversity of visual art being produced here and now. This exhibit is open to the public for viewing until February 12th, but we highly encourage becoming a member to support us in our mission and for a chance to submit your art to this exhibition.
