A favorite among the Richmond-area jam band community, Magnolia delivers a high-energy live experience filled with soulful grooves, rock influences, and the improvisational spirit that fans of bands like Phish and The Grateful Dead know and love.
Whether you’re a longtime jam band fan or simply looking for a memorable summer evening with great music and good company, Magnolia is bringing a show you won’t want to miss.

Play in the Park – Event Information
Play in the Park is a free, all-ages concert series designed to bring the community together for family-friendly evenings of live music in the Art Park. Guests are highly encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets, as seating will not be provided.
Tickets are required for entry but remain free of charge. This helps us comply with occupancy guidelines and ensure a safe, comfortable experience for all attendees. Outside food &alcohol is not permitted. Water bottles and Stanley style cups are welcome but will be inspected upon entry to comply with ABC Laws. Beer, wine, water, and soft drinks will be available for purchase, and a valid ID is required for alcohol purchases.
Kids can enjoy simple activities like bubbles and sidewalk chalk while families relax and take in the music. Free parking is available throughout Old Town, and we encourage guests to arrive early and patronize local restaurants and businesses before the show.
Play in the Park is made possible through community support. Donations are greatly appreciated and help sustain programming like this series throughout the year.

Know Before You Go: Play in the Park
We're excited to welcome you to Play in the Park! Before you arrive, please review the information below to help make your experience enjoyable and stress-free.
Food & Beverages
No food vendors will be on-site during Play in the Park events. We encourage guests to visit one of Petersburg's many local restaurants before or after the show.
Beer, wine, bottled water, and soft drinks will be available for purchase. Outside alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
No Coolers allowed
Factory-sealed water bottles are permitted. Reusable water bottles and tumblers, including Stanley-style cups, are welcome but will be inspected upon entry in accordance with Virginia ABC requirements.
Parking
Free parking is available throughout downtown Petersburg. Overflow parking is available at the River Street Market/Farmers Market lot.
Please observe all posted parking regulations and avoid blocking driveways, business entrances, or access points.

Live Painting
PAAL is seeking live painters to activate the space with real-time visual creation during performances. Selected artists will work on-site throughout the event, translating sound and atmosphere into evolving visual works that become part of the concert experience itself. This is an opportunity to engage directly with a live audience in a high-energy, music-driven environment while showcasing your process as much as your finished piece.
Artists of all backgrounds and styles are encouraged to apply, especially those comfortable working in dynamic, public-facing settings. Participants may have opportunities for social media exposure, documentation of their process, and potential collaboration with musicians and performers throughout the series.
