Distilled Affections

Jessie Coles
October 9–November 7, 2026

Distilled Affections explores color, material, and abstraction through salvaged fabrics stretched over wooden forms. Drawing from Jessie Coles’ background in observational painting, the works transform familiar materials into sculptural compositions that invite viewers to consider texture, color, and the physical qualities of the objects around us.

The exhibition reflects Coles’ evolving relationship with painting and materiality, using fabric as both surface and subject. Each work emphasizes the expressive possibilities of color, pattern, texture, and form.

On view upstairs at PAAL Gallery through November 7, 2026.

To Paint Things Present

Kristen Peyton & John Lee
October 4–November 7, 2026

To Paint Things Present brings together paintings by Kristen Peyton and John Lee that explore the everyday world through close observation, color, light, and place. Working from direct observation, both artists transform familiar environments into thoughtful studies of atmosphere, structure, and visual experience.

Peyton’s landscapes consider the character of places shaped by architecture, infrastructure, and the natural environment, while Lee’s paintings examine color, light, space, and weight through attentive observation. Together, their work invites viewers to slow down and reconsider the ordinary—finding new ways of seeing the places and moments that surround us.

On view in the downstairs gallery at PAAL through November 7, 2026.
