Petersburg Area Art League September 2016 Exhibit

features works by Richard Bland College Community Artists

Opening on Friday, September 9 for Friday for the Arts!, the Petersburg Area Art League will feature “Richard Bland College of William & Mary:  Create Your Journey,” an exhibit of works of art from the Richard Bland College community.

Showing in both the Main Gallery and the Members’ Gallery, the exhibit features the artwork of Richard Bland College faculty, staff, alumni, students and friends.  “This art showcases the college's thriving and long standing art department and its many friends in the local arts community,” explained exhibit organizer Stephen Wilson, Director of Annual Fund and Alumni Relations at Richard Bland College.

Elizabeth Berry - a retired educator who enjoys taking art classes at Richard Bland College of William & Mary.

 Rachel F. Brisendine - an alumna of Richard Bland College of William & Mary who currently works in publishing as an Illustrator for Prevention Magazine.

 Susan Brown – retired Professor of Art at Richard Bland College of William & Mary.

 Michelle Delano - Professor of Art at Richard Bland College of William & Mary.

 Rick Delano - professional sculptor, specializing in marble and bronze.

 Robin Deutsch – Assistant Director of Communications and Marketing at Richard Bland College of William & Mary. His work focuses on color photography taken at blues festivals in the US and Canada.

 Vicente "Vinnie" Gonzalez – alumnus of Richard Bland College of William & Mary.  He currently creates large abstract paintings and photographs.

 Dr. Roland Havis – retired Professor of Psychology at Richard Bland College of William & Mary.

 Sarah Horning – alumna of Richard Bland College of William & Mary.

 Aimee Joyaux - Associate Dean of Instructional Resources at Richard Bland College of William & Mary.  Her mixed media work explores southern folklore and vernacular as well as color.

 Lina Kim - first generation Korean-American mangaka (comic book artist).  A 2015 Honors graduate of Richard Bland College of William & Mary, she is currently a junior in the Animation department at Virginia State University.

 Dr. Ivan W. Perkinson – local community member who has painted several watercolors of Richard Bland College of William & Mary, including its well-known gazebo.

 The Honorable Oliver Pollard - retired judge who began painting in his retirement.  He specializes in landscape paintings.

 Selene Reddick – alumna of Richard Bland College of William & Mary, currently a junior at Virginia State University in the Animation department.  Inspired by Japanese yokai, she creates digital manga.

 Angela Tudor - alumna of Richard Bland College of William & Mary and currently an art teacher at North Elementary in Prince George County.

 Jonathan Weston – alumnus of Richard Bland College of William & Mary and a BFA graduate of the Honors Painting program at Virginia Commonwealth University.  His work has appeared in numerous exhibitions, and is widely collected.
