In the Main Gallery, 50 artists who are members of Side Street Gallery will display their artwork in “Artistic Endeavors,” a show curated by Judy Harris and Marti Fann, owners of Side Street Gallery.  Located on Pickwick Avenue in Colonial Heights, Side Street Gallery rents wall space to 50 local artists who display their work.  The gallery is celebrating its third anniversary this summer.

“Artistic Endeavors” will feature a wide variety of different artworks: woodworking, pottery, paintings, graphite, quilts, collage and mixed media, jewelry, stained glass and photography.

Photography Selections

by Raymond Denson

The Members’ Gallery will exhibit the photographs of art photographer and photojournalist Raymond Denson.  This exhibit will feature selections from two of Denson’s collections: his project “Silhouettes and Sunsets” and the source material for his upcoming book focused on the working people of Richmond and Central Virginia, “The Skin You’re In: RVA.”

Denson is trained in classical singing, sketch art, and photography, and when not behind the camera, he is the manager and Head Aquaculture Technician at the Harding Street Urban Agriculture Center.  This center, located on Harding Street in Petersburg, is a joint project between the USDA and Virginia State University, tasked with ending food disparities in urban eras via education and the aggregation and distribution of fresh produce to the urban areas of America.
