PAAL History Exhibit opens tomorrow

PAAL announces its upcoming exhibit, in conjunction with Old Towne Petersburg’s Friday for the Arts! this Friday, July 9. Come help resurrect the past, and bring the present and future of PAAL to life, as the fascinating history of its building at 7 E. Old Street is told through artwork, photographs, and news clippings.

The main focus of this year’s show will be an overview of the various styles of artwork that have been unearthed from PAAL’s permanent collection, dating from the 1940’s through the 1970’s.
Included will be several pieces from Anna Mercer Dunlop, founder of PAAL.
Also on display will be a photographic record of the building’s history, from the devastating destruction by the tornado of 1993, leading up to the progression of the major building renovations that have taken place over the past year as part of PAAL’s new, expanded community vision. Plus an extensive collection of news clippings dating back to PAAL’s earliest days.
The show will open 6-9pm Friday July 9, 2010, and run through September 4.
